Illinois High School Football Scores - Playoffs/1st Round

by Jeff Fisher
Illinois High School Football Huddle

Two wins this week for the East St. Louis High School Football team...one win came in court, the other on the field.

After a state judge overturned the Illinois High School Association's decision to eject the undefeated Flyers from the playoffs for using an ineligible player during the season, ESL beat Belleville West on the field 41-10 on Saturday. The victory advances the Flyers to the second round of the post-season, while fans and officials alike debate whether the team should be playing at all.

That debate will be spearheaded by the IHSA which will conduct hearings this week that could result in Saturday's victory being taken off-the-board.
