Illinois Associated Press High School Football Rankings

There were no changes among No. 1 teams in The Associated Press high school football rankings for the first time this season.

Aledo, No. 1 in Class 1A, won 55-0 over previously undefeated Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon in a West Prairie Trail West Conference game.

Mount Olive stayed unbeaten and climbed to No. 2 after a 45-7 win over Riverton. Previous No. 2 Lexington fell to No. 9 after a 20-18 loss to Fisher in the Heart of Illinois Conference.

In 2A, Maroa-Forsyth solidified its No. 1 ranking with a 34-14 victory in the Okaw Valley over Decatur St. Teresa, which hadn't allowed a point in its first two wins. Newcomers to the 2A ranks this week are Minonk Fieldcrest, which has three shutout victories, and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.

Defending 3A state champion Bureau Valley stayed atop that class after a 47-7 victory over Peru St. Bede in the Big Rivers.

Plano improved one position to No. 2 after a 14-7 win over Reed-Custer. Previous No. 2 DuQuoin fell to No. 9 after an overtime loss to Herrin.

Driscoll remained No. 1 in 4A after a 57-12 Suburban Catholic win over St. Edward. New to the 4A ranks this week are Byron at No. 8, Mendota at No. 9 and Breese Mater Dei at No. 10.

In 5A, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin stayed No. 1 after a 33-7 win over Jacksonville in the Central State Eight. Metamora remained No. 2 and Geneseo No. 3 after each posted narrow victories.

Metamora defeated Dunlap, 14-7 in the Mid-Illini. Geneseo won a nonconference game, 14-6 over Quincy Notre Dame.

Normal Community rolled to a 48-8 win over Urbana and remains No. 1 in Class 6A. Hubbard stayed at No. 2.

Oak Forest and Thornton Fractional South broke into the 6A ranks at No. 8 and No. 10 after each won for the third time in as many weeks.

Holding the top spot in 7A for the second consecutive week is Carmel, coming off a 73-55 win over Marian Catholic in the East Suburban Catholic.

The other nine positions in Class 7A also were unchanged, with Libertyville staying at No. 2 after a 42-13 win over Fox Lake Grant.

Lincoln-Way East stayed atop the 8A rankings after a 33-0 win over Bradley-Bourbonnais. Mount Carmel and Wheaton Warrenville South remained Nos. 2 and 3 respectively.

Former No. 4 St. Rita fell to No. 10 after a 19-17 loss to Fenwick in the Catholic Blue.
