Just one team, Driscoll, dropped from its No. 1 spot in The Associated Press high school football rankings released Monday.
The rest of the top-ranked teams held their respective positions after each rolled to their fifth win in as many games.
Driscoll, which has won five consecutive state titles, fell from No. 1 to No. 3 in Class 4A after losing for the first time in two seasons. Marian Central ended Driscoll's 23-game win streak with a 21-0 win in the Suburban Catholic.
Newton, coming off a 38-7 win over Mount Zion in the Apollo, is the new No. 1 in 4A. And Chillicothe Illinois Valley Central broke into the 4A ranks at No. 10 after a 27-21 victory over Spring Valley Hall.
Lincoln-Way East retained the top spot in 8A after a 45-0 win over Joliet. Carmel stayed No. 1 in 7A after a 63-0 win over St. Joseph. And Normal Community remained atop the 6A ranks following a 42-7 win over Champaign Centennial.
In Class 5A, No. 1 Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin is fresh off a 49-2 victory over Springfield Lanphier. Marian Central (5-0) remained No. 10 in 5A after its victory over Driscoll.
Bureau Valley stayed at the top in 3A after a 40-0 win over Fulton. Spring Valley Hall (4-1) fell four positions to No. 7 after its loss to IVC.
Class 2A No. 1 Maroa-Forsyth's latest victory was a 30-0 thumping of Monticello. No. 9 Oneida ROWVA/AlWood (5-0) and No. 10 Georgetown-Ridge Farm (4-1) broke into the 2A ranks.
Aledo remained No. 1 in 1A after a 64-7 win over Yorkwood/Westmer.
