The Illinois High School Association has asked a state court judge to remove a temporary restraining order that allowed East St. Louis to play its first round playoff game last weekend.
If the judge removes the order, the Flyers will once again be out of the IHSA postseason.
Last week the IHSA ordered East St. Louis to forfeit 10 wins in 2009 and all of its regular season wins this year. The original IHSA decision removed the Flyers from the postseason, but the the temporary restraining order allowed the team to return to the 7A playoffs and capture a 41-10 win over Belleville West.
The Chicago Tribune reports that once the judge makes his ruling, the IHSA will have to decide what to do with the 7A bracket, which could include giving East St. Louis' second round opponent, Belleville East, a bye or possibly putting Belleville West back in the tournament after last week's loss.
