St. Charles East, which leads the Upstate Eight Conference heading into the final week of the regular, season could be forced to share its league title if a remedy can't be found for the flu, which has caused school officials to cancel classes through the end of the week.
According to the Chicago Tribune, with 900 of the school's 2,200 students missing class on Tuesday, classes have been cancelled for the rest of the week. That puts Friday's game against rival St. Charles North in jeopardy. If the game can't be moved to Saturday, hat East would have to forfeit the game.
Right now East leads the Upstate Eight by one game over Lake Park. If East has to forfeit and Lake Park beats Barlett, both team would end-up with 6-1 league records. Of course, a forfeight loss would also affect the team's post-season seeding. Both East and North have qualified for the IHSA playoffs.
